Logan County man and passenger arrested after multi-county pursuit

GREENVILLE, Ky. – Two people are facing charges after a pursuit crossed into multiple counties on Wednesday.

According to the Kentucky State Police, Muhlenberg County dispatch received a call Monday from a Central City Walmart regarding two people shoplifting.

Troopers say the Powderly Police Department Central City Police Department tried to stop a silver 2018 Toyota Camry on Kentucky 189 Bypass near Powderly, where the pursuit began.

KSP says it joined the pursuit, along with the Greenville Police Department and Muhlenberg County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities say they pursued the vehicle through Muhlenberg, Hopkins and Mclean counties on roadways that included Kentucky 601, Kentucky 175, Kentucky 70, Kentucky 85, Kentucky 81, Kentucky 181, Oak Street and Kentucky 431.

The driver was identified as Sean D. Stratton, 36, of Russellville, while the passenger was identified as Selexus C. Zamperla, 28, of Madisonville.

Both were taken into custody after a legal intervention maneuver by KSP after Stratton began driving southbound in the northbound lane into oncoming traffic on Ky-189 Bypass, authorities say.

Stratton was arrested and is charged with speeding 26 miles per hour or greater, first-degree fleeing or evading police (motor vehicle), first-degree possession of a controlled substance, second offense (methamphetamine), operating a motor vehicle under the influence, first offense (aggravated circumstances), drug paraphernalia, first-degree wanton endangerment (police officer), first-degree criminal mischief, improperly on left side of road, reckless driving and theft by unlawful taking over $500.

Zamperla was arrested and is charged with public intoxciation and theft by unlawful taking over $500.

Both were transported to the Muhlenberg County Jail.
