Logan County holds annual Agriculture Appreciation Luncheon
LOGAN COUNTY, Ky. – Farmers, members of the agriculture business and future generations gathered for the annual Logan County Agriculture Appreciation Luncheon.
School kids of all ages from Logan County FFA and 4H gathered to present their projects to local businesses who may want to invest or help them in their journey.
The event had over 200 attendees who gathered to celebrate the agriculture industry and its heritage in Logan County.
“We are a community that works together,” said Leann Martin, extension agent for Agriculture and Natural Resources in Logan County. “We are a community that’s based in agriculture, and a lot of our small businesses truly appreciate agriculture and how they intermingle.”
Local students in the area presented their projects in the 4H and FFA Trade Show.
The members of the 4H program were showcasing the small businesses they created and were even selling products.
Members of the FFA showcased their placement projects to those in attendance.
All students presenting their projects had a chance to network with local businesses and build connections, which may lead to a sponsorship down the line.
“We’re building leaders, we’re teaching leaders, and our community members are great mentors for that,” Martin said.
Both the 4H and FFA programs offer students many opportunities to grow in agriculture and entrepreneurial ventures.
The experiences both programs provide can help shape students and help them build skills that last a lifetime.
“You get to do different opportunities. Like a couple years ago, I went up to University of Kentucky to, do my entrepreneurship thing up there and got to speak in front of a lot of other people,” said Billy Martin, a seventh-grade member of 4H.
The luncheon ended with the famous 4H ham auction, which was auctioned off for $3000 this year.
The event was able to bring Logan County together to celebrate the very industry that makes the community whole.
