Local plasma donations could help to find a vaccine for COVID-19

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A local plasma donation center is working to do its part to help find a vaccine for COVID-19.

BPL Plasma of Bowling Green is launching a COVID-19 plasma collection program from those who have tested positive for the coronavirus and have since recovered.

Plasma is a component of blood.

This particular plasma contains antibodies that may be used to create medicine to treat the infection.

The program will begin at the Old Morgantown Road location on May 18.

This method has been successful in treating a variety of diseases such as tetanus, hepatitis B and rabies.
