Local law enforcement participate in Torch Run in Bowling Green

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – If you were driving down Nashville Road on Wednesday, you might have seen a few police cars and some people running.

To raise money and awareness for the Special Olympics, law enforcement in the Warren County area ran almost 5 miles from Kentucky State Police Post 3 to the SOKY Marketplace in downtown Bowling Green. Warren County Sheriff’s Office, Bowling Green Police Department and local Kentucky State Police joined forces to run for a great cause.

News 40 spoke to Bullitt County K-9 Sergeant Trevor Ford, who serves as the statewide coordinator for the LETR, Ford said this was the best inaugural run he’s ever seen. Ford commended law enforcement in the area for showing up and showing out how they did.

Ford told News 40 that Bowling Green makes leg number 14 ran in Kentucky for the Special Olympics and said if any law enforcement agency is interested in hosting their own leg, he said to reach out to him through the Bullitt County Sheriff’s Office or email him at trevor.ford@bcky.org to get further details.
