Local law enforcement charging juveniles after investigation into online posts

BARREN COUNTY, Ky. – The Barren County Sheriff’s Office has released further information regarding recent online posts and potential safety concerns at area schools.

The following statement was released Thursday evening by BCSO public information officer Mike Houchens:

“For the last couple of days, the Barren County Sheriff’s Office has been investigating several social media post concerning safety concerns at our schools. While collaborating with Barren County Schools, the Kentucky State Police, and the Glasgow Police Department, we have been able to identify the sources of these social media post. We are currently working on criminal charges on these individuals. All offenders have been identified as juveniles, so no further information will be released.”

“We would like to thank the Barren County Schools, the Kentucky State Police and the Glasgow Police Department with their assistance in this investigation. Also, thank you to those in the public who reached out to local law enforcement with information that aided in identifying these individuals.”

This follows reports that two juveniles are facing charges, including a 13-year-old that was arrested Thursday after a threat investigation involving Glasgow High School. GPD major Terry Flatt says that both juveniles did not possess weapons.
