Local gym hosts grand re-opening after being destroyed by 2021 tornado
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – In December 2021, Total Fitness Connection was one of many local businesses that was severely impacted by the tornado that tore through Bowling Green over three years ago.
The business sustained extensive damage, leaving only the pool section standing. But on Jan. 15, Total Fitness Connection celebrated its grand reopening.
“Was very satisfying because it was amazing to see faces that were at our very first ribbon cutting in 2001. And we’ve all certainly gotten a little older. But to have them there as members of the community to come back and congratulate, very satisfying and very blessed is all I can say,” said owner Dr. Todd Mason.
Now in their newest building, staff members are getting to work not only in a gym but a physical therapy office as well, offering unique equipment to maintain your best physical health for both the young and the old.
“We want people come in, take care of their initial injury, but they get them integrated in a more active lifestyle so we can help prevent that injury and prevent future doctor visits and co-pays and health costs,” Dr. Nick Wheet, director of rehab, said.
But time marches on and stops for nobody, and much has changed for Total Fitness Connection. So what is next for those in store at Total Fitness Connection?
“In those 20 years, I’ve had children, My children are grown. They’re working even with me now. And so, you know, it changes your availability, It changes what you know, you can potentially do. So many ways I feel like I’m just getting started. I think the model is viable and I’d love to reproduce it in other areas,” Mason said.
While other locations were spared from the tornado, Total Fitness Connection is proud to officially cut the ribbon and put the past behind them and continue to serve the Bowling Green area by creating healthy life styles and changing lives for the better.
