Local group provides street outreach during heat wave
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – It’s neighbors helping neighbors even in potentially dangerous weather conditions.
Each week, BG Neighbors Aid Network partners with HOTEL INC and provides street outreach, bringing home-cooked meals, supplies and medical care to those in need.
However, on an especially hot day, reaching out to the unhoused community can make all the difference.
On Thursday, BG Neighbors Aid Network gathered three of its leadership team, along with volunteers and its street medicine team.
Together, they passed out supplies and provided care as high temperatures continued into the afternoon.
The group states it aims to tackle the most dangerous effects that can impact the unhoused while breaking barriers and maintaining core values of dignity, compassion, accountability, non-judgement and community.
BG Neighbors Aid Network says it started in October, and it continues to be an ever-broadening community resource network.
