Local crossing guard retires after 49 years of service

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- A local crossing guard who has served the same street for several generations of students retired on Tuesday.

Betty Natcher has been a crossing guard for 49 years. She’s one of 16 crossing guards the Bowling Green Police Department has employed.

For generations, Betty has kept her eyes on the road for children and parents to safely cross the streets.

Tuesday was her final shift as a crossing guard on Collett Avenue and Covington Street.

Mrs. Natcher, thank you for your service from WNKY News 40.
