Local brewery selling dog treats made from spent grains

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – If you like dogs and beer, you are in luck.

A brand-new brewery in the area has a mission to support the local Humane Society with beer sales and dog treats.

Gasper Brewing Company in Bowling Green just opened up three weeks ago and has already begun raising money for pets.

With one successful batch made and sold in one night, the brewery is planning to bake dog biscuits using the spent grains left over from the brewing process.

In addition to dog biscuits, spent grains can also be used to feed cows, horses or other animals.

An employee suggested mixing the grains with eggs, flour and peanut butter to make the treats and the owner loved the idea.

The best part, all proceeds from the biscuits go straight to the Bowling Green Warren County Humane Society.

The next batch of treats should be finished in about a week and will cost $1 for two biscuits.

Whatever isn’t made into treats is donated to local farmers for their herds.

If you don’t have a dog to buy treats for but still want to support the brewery and Humane Society, you can visit on a Wednesday when 10% of sales are donated to the shelter.
