Local bars celebrate St. Patrick’s Day
BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- It’s St. Patrick’s Day, and for local bars in town it’s a huge night. But it will look different than pre-pandemic years.
WNKY News spoke to representatives of two popular downtown bars, Hilligans and Cliffs of Moher Irish Pub, who both said it’s been two years since they have had an Irish celebration.
Cliffs said to try to spread people out, they have St. Patrick’s Day specials all week along until Saturday night. Both bars have capacity limits and people must wear masks and social distance while inside.
Managers of the bars say this is a sign of hope for the future and will help their business pick up.
“We’re really excited because it’s been two years since we’ve had a St. Patrick’s Day. Pitchers, everyone loves a green pitcher of beer for St. Patrick’s Day,” said Hilligans’ general manager Ashley Bland.
“Honestly it’s pretty awesome because this is like our biggest money making thing. Even publicity, all that stuff for us it’s a once a year big thing because we’re an Irish pub. And last year it sucked for that to be nonexistent,” said Cliffs’ manager Brigid Langdon.
