Live music returns this summer with Concerts in the Park

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- Concerts in the Park, a popular weekly downtown concert series returns June 25.

The summer tradition was canceled last year for the first time since 1979 due to the pandemic. But now the live performances can finally go on at Circus Square Park in downtown Bowling Green.

They added an extra day this year so there are 12 Friday performances until Sept. 10. Four of the bands are new to the event, and three of them are coming from out of town.

Ron Murphy, director of the Downtown Redevelopment Authority, says why people in the community keep coming back every year.

“They’re free for one thing. They’re quality, for a second, and family-oriented for third. And they’re long-lived. People just look forward to them every year. It’s a great weekend event,” said Murphy.

Murphy said they are following government COVID-19 guidelines to keep all attendees safe.
