News 40 Weather | Cool Derby Weekend Before Temperatures Rebound

COOL, SOMEWHAT DAMP START TO MAY
A cool, and at times rainy, pattern settles in over South Central Kentucky through the weekend, with highs climbing into the mid‑60s Saturday and upper 60s to near 70 by Sunday. Skies stay partly sunny both days, though clouds will thicken late Sunday ahead of the next system. Nights remain chilly for early May, with lows in the upper 30s.
Futurecast

Rain chances return Monday as a slow‑moving disturbance brings scattered showers and a few thunderstorms, with highs in the mid‑ to upper 70s. Tuesday and Wednesday look similar—periods of clouds, occasional showers and thunderstorms with highs in the mid- to upper 70s. By Thursday, drier air filters in, allowing sunshine to return but temperatures cool to the mid-60s for afternoon highs. Lows through the week stay comfortable, generally in the low to mid‑50s.
