Leitchfield man arrested after vehicle pursuit

LEITCHFIELD, Ky. (K105) – A Leitchfield man has been apprehended on multiple charges following a reported pursuit.
According to WNKY News 40 media partner K105, an arrest citation states the Kentucky State Police arrested 37-year-old Wallace L. Mercer Thursday at about 11 a.m. after a trooper spotted him driving west on Beaver Dam Road, just outside of Leitchfield.
K105 reports the trooper, who knew Mercer had warrants for his arrest, tried to conduct a traffic stop, however, Mercer sped up to 75 miles per hour and fled west on Beaver Dam Road.

Mercer then “turned right onto the road he lives on” and reached an “abrupt stop” before he ran from the trooper into a wooded area.
The trooper pursued Mercer, according to the citation. Mercer eventually stopped and was arrested.
He faces two counts of fleeing or evading police (motor vehicle and on foot), careless driving and driving on a revoked/suspended operator’s license.
He was also served with a parole violation warrant and a failure to appear warrant.
Mercer was lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center.
