Upon arrival, an arrest citation states authorities located a female holding a 6-month-old outside of the home.

K105 reports the female told police that 49-year-old Jeremy M. Chaikowsky had struck the “child in the face trying to make the child be quiet.”

According to the citation, the female “had numerous bruises and marks on her.” She reportedly told police Chaikowsky had struck her multiple times earlier that day while she was holding the infant.

The victim additionally told police Chaikowsky had laid “his weight across the child.”

While speaking to police, the citation states Chaikowsky admitted to hitting the infant in the head to try to get the 6-month-old to stop crying.

Chaikowsky was charged with first-degree criminal abuse (victim under the age of 12) and fourth-degree assault. He was lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center.

Both the infant and female victim were “escorted” by Leitchfield police to Owensboro Health Twin Lakes Medical Center for evaluation, according to the citation.
