Legacy Christian’s Cole Phillips signs to play basketball at Brescia

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – On Tuesday evening, Legacy Christian Academy basketball standout Cole Phillips signed his letter of intent to further pursue his athletic and academic dreams as a Bearcat at Brescia University.

“ I’m very excited, this has been a long time coming,” Phillips said. “I’ve had this relationship built with these guys for a couple years. I’ve known Coach [Eli] Hayes since I was 12, so to actually get to this moment that very few actually get it’s special and I’m very excited to sign today and get to Brescia.”

During his time as an Eagle, Phillips led his team to some of the highest points the program has ever seen, including wins at the KCAA Tip-Off Tournament, the KCAA Regional Tournament and ultimately capturing the Eagles’ first-ever KCAA State Tournament title.

In addition to making the KCAA All-State team, Phillips was named the KCAA Mr. Basketball following his senior season, which was another first for Legacy Christian basketball.

For the 2024-25 campaign, Phillips averaged 29.0 points per game (second in KCAA), 5.3 assists per game (tied for fourth in KCAA) and 4.9 steals per game (second in KCAA).

Phillips scored over 1,000 career points as an Eagle, and a few of his top performances put him into the LCA record books, including most points in a single game (51) and most three-pointers in a single game (8).

“ I think I just hope to leave behind a legacy of winning, and that’s what this program’s about, what we’ve turned it around,” Phillips said. “We’ve taken this program, me and my teammates, to heights it’s never been before. The program is still, it’s riding high, and they know the standard and they know how to get there. I hope to leave behind a legacy of leadership and hard work and winning.”
