Leaders commemorate December 14 as Cultivate Kindness Day in memory of young woman

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – If you are looking for the right time to cultivate kindness, Saturday is the day.

The city of Bowling Green and Warren County issued a proclamation at City Hall Friday morning declaring December 14 Cultivate Kindness Day to honor of a young woman who died unexpectedly in 2017.

McKenzi Loid died in a tragic car crash and was a believer in doing things for others and making someone else’s day.

McKenzi’s mother created Cultivate Kindness, a faith based non-profit organization created in honor of McKenzi, to celebrate life and spread kindness in unique ways.

“We have chosen to start a non-profit to just pay it forward to the community here in Bowling Green and Warren County. The outreach that we have received since June 17 through today has been overwhelming and we just want to share some kindness ourselves,” said Robin Loid, McKenzi’s mother.

On Cultivate Kindness Day, which is McKenzi’s birthday, a family friend, Chapel Tinius, will be releasing a CD called “Pretty Little Things” online and in local stores in McKenzi’s honor.

“Cultivate Kindness is actually my social impact initiative for Miss Kentucky this year, so I get to go around my community and my state promoting Cultivate Kindness and all of the wonderful things that they do,” said Tinius.

All of the profits from the sales of the music album will go to the non-profit.
