Law enforcement advocate for location sharing apps in case of emergency
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Accidents happen all the time, and if you have a tool right there then why not use it?
Bowling Green Police Department and Warren County Sheriff’s Office spoke to News 40 about iPhone alerts and app notifications like Life360 that can really come in handy when in an emergency situation. When there’s a hard stop or a strong impact to the phone, law enforcement will receive coordinates as to where the phone is which can help if you happen to be off the main road or can’t get to your phone to call help for yourself.
But again, accidents do happen, so Warren County Sheriff Brett Hightower told News 40 that if you happen to get an alert regarding a loved one, always try to get in touch with them first because it could be a simple explanation.
Regardless of it’s a false alarm or a real emergency, law enforcement are advocates for these apps that can at time saves lives in the event of serious situations like car crashes, high falls and a myriad of dangerous situations.
