ABOUT THE TOPS
Four different WKU players are averaging double-digit points this season: Alexis Mead – 15.0 PPG, Acacia Hayes – 12.9 PPG, Josie Gilvin – 11.9 PPG, Destiny Salary – 11.1 PPG. WKU has had six different leading scorers through eight games this season with Acacia Hayes and Alexis Mead being the only players who have led twice. Five different Lady Toppers have scored 20-plus in a game this season.
The Lady Toppers are averaging 14.0 steals per game this season, which is the eighth best rate in the country. Three different Lady Toppers are top 10 in steals per game in CUSA (Acacia Hayes: 3.43, 2nd; Alexis Mead: 2.88, 4th; Josie Gilvin: 2.25, 8th).
WKU went undefeated in November with a perfect 6-0 record in the month. It’s the first time a Lady Topper team has notched an undefeated record through a whole month (3 games played minimum) since going 7-0 in February of 2017.
Five Lady Toppers come to Bowling Green internationally, which is the highest number of international athletes WKU women’s basketball has had on one team in program history.
The Lady Toppers were picked to finish fourth in the Conference USA preseason coaches poll, behind Middle Tennessee, Liberty and FIU and above Louisiana Tech in fifth.
SERIES INFORMATION
Wednesday’s game will be the fourth official contest between WKU and Kentucky Wesleyan all-time but the first since 1983.
The Lady Toppers have won all three games in the series against the Panthers.
ABOUT THE PANTHERS
Kentucky Wesleyan has wins against Kentucky State, Trevecca Nazarene and Ursuline and a loss to Missouri St. Louis this season.
Shiya Hoosier is leading the team in scoring, averaging 12.0 points per game. Myah Montgomery is also averaging double digits, scoring 10.5 points per game. Hoosier is also the squad’s leading rebounder, pulling down 3.3 boards per game.
