Lady Toppers host FIU on Saturday

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – WKU women’s basketball returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 4 when the Lady Toppers host FIU. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. in E.A. Diddle Arena.

ABOUT THE TOPS
- Four different WKU players are averaging double-digit points this season: Alexis Mead – 13.8 PPG, Destiny Salary – 12.5 PPG, Acacia Hayes – 12.2 PPG, Josie Gilvin – 10.5 PPG. WKU has had six different leading scorers through 13 games this season. Alexis Mead and Destiny Salary have led the team four times. Acacia Hayes has led the team twice and Zsofia Telegdy, Josie Gilvin and Mackenzie Chatfield have each led the team once.
- The Lady Toppers are averaging 11.8 steals per game this season, which is the 27th best rate in the country. Three different Lady Toppers are top 10 in steals per game in CUSA (Alexis Mead: 2.62, 2nd; Acacia Hayes: 2.42, 6th; Josie Gilvin: 2.15, 8th).
- WKU went undefeated in November with a perfect 6-0 record in the month. It’s the first time a Lady Topper team has notched an undefeated record through a whole month (3 games played minimum) since going 7-0 in February of 2017.
- Five Lady Toppers come to Bowling Green internationally, which is the highest number of international athletes WKU women’s basketball has had on one team in program history.
- The Lady Toppers were picked to finish fourth in the Conference USA preseason coaches poll, behind Middle Tennessee, Liberty and FIU and above Louisiana Tech in fifth.

- Saturday’s game will be the 49th meeting between WKU and FIU all-time. The Lady Toppers own a 36-12 record in the series.
- WKU is 20-3 all-time against the Panthers in Diddle Arena.
ABOUT THE PANTHERS
- FIU dropped its CUSA opener at Middle Tennessee on Thursday, 69-38.
- The Panthers went 4-7 in non-conference play with wins against Florida National, Wagner, Yale and Hamton and losses to Abilene Christian (twice), Jacksonville, Miami, FAU, UT Arlington, and Miami (Ohio).
- CUSA’s Preseason Player of the Year, Mya Kone, has not played since the Panthers’ first game of the season. Point guard Tanajah Hayes has not played in the last nine games.
- Parris Atkins is the team’s leading scorer, putting up 13.7 points per game. Isnelle Natabou is averaging 10.1 points per game.
- Bineta Diatta is the team’s leading rebounder, pulling down 5.8 boards per game.
