Lady Hilltopper basketball hosts Lil Topper camp at Diddle Arena
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – WKU sports may be on a pause for summer break, but Diddle Arena remains lively this week because of the Greg Collins Lil Topper youth camp, put on by the Lady Hilltopper basketball team.
Elementary school aged boys and girls took the court with the team, as the younger kids learned how to dribble and the older kids practiced their free throw skills.
While these campers enjoy getting to learn the game of basketball, they enjoy learning it even more with their favorite Lady Toppers who are the athletes they want to grow up to be.
“I’m having a lot of fun because I’m getting to learn a lot of things out here and I can see all the players,” Korrie Mcguire said.
I want to be that when I grow up for basketball, when I play for sports and stuff, and it’s just fun to just see them,” Ainslee Winchester said.
But it’s not just the kids having fun during camp, it’s just as much fun for the Lady Hilltoppers as well.
With a mixture of returning and new faces on the 2025-2026 roster, Lil Topper camp provides the team with one of its favorite bonding activities of the offseason. It allows the tops to spend time with each other while also leaving an impact on these kids.
“(My favorite part) is really playing with them because seeing smiles on their faces lights up my day,” Lady Hilltopper forward Mya Pratcher said. “I’m making them smile and I’m teaching them something new. I wasn’t able to do that at other schools and I’m able to do that now, so it really means a lot to me.”
