KYTC secretary issues declaration of emergency for incoming weather

FRANKFORT, Ky. – Kentucky Transportation Cabinet secretary Jim Gray has issued a Declaration of Emergency suspending hours of service and stoppage at weigh stations for commercial vehicles transporting needed supplies in areas affected by an incoming arctic front.

The order is effective starting Jan. 12.

This includes those transporting gasoline, propane, diesel fuel, fuel oil and kerosene to affected locations, the official order states.

The order states that the front is expected to cause the commonwealth and a large portion of the United States to reach a prolonged period of below-freezing temperatures.

The concern is these conditions may lead to shortages that are vital for some areas.
