KSP to ‘Cover the Cruiser’ for Special Olympics athletes
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — The Kentucky State Police is hitting the streets for a cause.
Its annual Cover the Cruiser fundraiser, which raises money for Special Olympics athletes, is coming to Bowling Green this April.
Trooper Katan Parker, public affairs officer for Post 3, says the event is simple, but its impact is significant.
“Cover the Cruiser. We actually go outside a business and raise money,” Parker said. “People come out with us and donate for the Special Olympics. When someone gives money, we write their name on a piece of paper and place it on the cruiser. Our goal is to cover it completely with donations.”
Volunteers and community members line up to help “cover the cruiser” with contributions. All funds raised go directly to Special Olympics programs, supporting athletes and raising awareness throughout the state.
On April 15, Parker and his team will be at the Five Star by Warren East. Donations can be made in person at the event, online through Parker’s Facebook page, or directly at Post 3.
Parker emphasized that the event is more than just giving—it’s a way for the community to come together and support a cause that touches so many lives.
“This goes straight to the Special Olympics and supports a Torch Friend, who helps carry the Special Olympics torch around for awareness,” Parker said.
This April, the Kentucky State Police invite everyone in the Bowling Green area to help cover the cruiser and support Special Olympics athletes in their community.
