NEW DETAILS: KSP investigating trooper-involved shooting in Warren County
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Kentucky State Police is investigating a trooper-involved shooting in Warren County.
KSP Public Affairs Officer Katan Parker says the KSP Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT) was requested by Post 3 to investigate a trooper-involved shooting that happened on Monday afternoon in a wooded area near Interstate 165 and Sweeney Road in Bowling Green.
According to KSP’s initial investigation, KSP Post 3 was notified of a crash on I-165 southbound at approximately 2:30pm, and that a man involved in the collision was attempting to steal vehicles by force.
Troopers at the scene located the man, identified as Gregoria Lopez, 24, of Olive Hill, near the 5-mile marker of I-165. Lopez fled police on foot into a wooded area.
Parker says at least two troopers discharged their weapons during the incident. Lopez was not struck.
Lopez was arrested and transported to a local hospital for a suspected reaction to an illegal substance.
Parker says no other injuries were reported.
Parker says charges against Lopez from Post 3 are pending.
The investigation is ongoing.
