KSP Post 3 investigating fatal Simpson County crash

FRANKLIN, Ky. – Kentucky State Police Post 3 is investigating a fatal collision in Simpson County.

KSP Post 3 Interim Public Affairs Officer Allen Shirley says the post responded to the area of the six-mile marker of I-65 Southbound in Simpson County at 2:53 am on Sunday morning about a motor vehicle collision.

The initial investigation indicates a truck driven by Alberto Sebastian Andres, 24, of Portland, Tennessee, was traveling south bound on I-65 when the vehicle left the travel portion of the roadway and onto the outside shoulder. The vehicle collided with the rear of a trailer connected to a Freightliner commercial vehicle. The Freightliner was operated by Tiras Prothro, 41, of Chicago, Illinois.

KSP says a passenger in Andres’ truck, Bartolo Freciso, 24, of Portland, Tennessee, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Simpson County Coroner’s office.

Andres was transported to Skyline Medical Center in Nashville for treatment of unknown injuries.

Prothro did not sustain injuries in the crash.

The investigation is ongoing.
