KSP investigating fatal crash in Simpson County

FRANKLIN, Ky. – A 21-year-old man is dead and several were hospitalized following a collision in Simpson County, according to authorities.
On Thursday, Nov. 2 around 11:39 p.m., the Kentucky State Police says it received a call about a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of KY 1008 and KY 1171.
Troopers say Bailee J. Deweese, 18, of Franklin had stopped at a stop sign in a Ford SUV on KY 1171 before turning eastbound onto KY 1008. KSP says Thaddeus Johnson, 40 was driving a 2016 freightliner commercial vehicle on KY 1008 and was unable to avoid the vehicle and struck the SUV.
Deweese’s vehicle was occupied by Isaac Shields, 21, Alexandria West, 19, and a 2-year-old.
Deweese was transported to The Medical Center in Franklin. Her other three passengers were flown to hospitals in Nashville.
KSP says it was later notified by the hospital on Nov. 4 that Shields had died from his injuries.
This investigation is still ongoing.
