KSP investigating fatal collision in Green County

GREENSBURG, Ky. – Kentucky State Police Post 15 is investigating a fatal collision in Green County.

KSP responded to a call on Friday evening to a two-vehicle injury collision on US 68 near Pleasant Run Church Road.

Police say that Anthony Byers, 40 of Albany, was operating a Chevrolet Cobalt west on US 68 when it crossed the roadway’s centerline and crashed head-on into a Jeep. The Jeep was traveling east of US 68.

The Jeep was operated by Darrell Rakes, 30 of Greensburg.

Byers was pronounced dead at the scene by the Green County Coroner’s Office.

Rakes was transported to Taylor Regional Hospital for treatment.

The investigation is ongoing.

KSP Post 15 Troopers were assisted at the scene by the Green County Sheriff’s Office, Green County Fire and EMS, Green County Rescue Squad, and Green County Coroner’s Office.
