KSP holds wreath ceremony for fallen troopers

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Kentucky State Police gathered at the Fairview Cemetery Thursday afternoon to pay respect to a fallen trooper.

KSP Post 3 honored fallen Trooper William Carter Smith, who was killed on April 26, 1973. Smith’s son laid the wreath in the ceremony.

“These troopers that we are honoring today, they paid the sacrifice, but they done it for the communities they lived in,” said Daniel Priddy, KSP trooper and public affairs officer.  “They done it for their families and the Commonwealth of Kentucky, to provide security and protection for those who often can’t do it themselves.

Today’s wreath laying was the last of six wreath ceremonies during National Police Week in the KSP Post 3 area.

National Police Week pays tribute to local, state and federal peace officers who have died or been disabled in the line of duty.
