UPDATE: KSP cruiser struck by vehicle, trooper injured
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A Kentucky State Police trooper cruiser was struck by a vehicle on Sunday.
According to KSP, the incident occurred just after noon on Interstate 65 in Hart County.
Authorities say trooper Landon Key had finished working a collision on I-65 at mile marker 57 northbound.
Troopers say Key’s state police cruiser was still on the outside shoulder with emergency equipment turned on when another vehicle rear ended it while traveling northbound.
Key was transported to T.J. Samson Community Hospital, where he was treated for his injuries and released.
The driver of the other vehicle has been cited for failure to yield to an emergency vehicle.
KSP Post 3 says it has seen an increase in collisions due to weather conditions and asks the public to avoid unnecessary travel and to stay safe. In total, Post 3 says it has received calls for 49 reported non-injury collisions and five injury collisions Sunday.
