KSP Awareness Initiative for Human Trafficking Awareness Month

BOWLIN GREEN, Ky. – The Kentucky State Police is teaming up with the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance to make people aware of human trafficking and educate them on the signs of the crime.

January is Human Trafficking Awareness Month, and KSP is using this month to refresh awareness about what you can do to recognize if it is taking place.

Experts tell us human trafficking affects people of all ages and backgrounds, but as a person, you can sense when a person is uncomfortable and you can see it on their face. KSP wants you to know how to notice this crime and what to do if you see it.

Kentucky State Police, Post 3, public affairs officer and trooper Katan Parker, says, “If they see something and it’s not normal, and they call us, and we go check it out, and there is nothing there, good. But if they something, and they call us, and we go check it out, and it turns out to actually be something as we dig deeper, then you know, it’s better safe than sorry.”

This initiative hopes to reduce human trafficking throughout the country. If you suspect any human trafficking activity, you should call 911 immediately.
