Kiwanis Club hosts luncheon for Thunderfest sponsors
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Kiwanis Club of Bowling Green recognized community sponsors Wednesday during a luncheon at The Mint Gaming Hall as preparations continue for this year’s Thunderfest celebration.
The catered event honored the businesses and individuals whose support helps make the annual Independence Day celebration possible.
Organizers say Thunderfest is the largest fireworks show in south-central Kentucky and will feature live music, food vendors, family activities and an inflatable play area in addition to its fireworks display.
Kiwanis leaders say the event is about more than celebrating Independence Day, it’s an opportunity to bring the Bowling Green community together.
“I think it’s just seeing the community come together,” said Kiwanis Club President Rod Hutcheson. “Our sponsors invest in what we’re doing, and that allows us to give back to this community. We hope everyone who attends recognizes that as well.”
Thunderfest is scheduled for July 3.
While the nation celebrates America’s 250th anniversary on July 4, Thunderfest will mark its 55th year serving the Bowling Green community.
