Bowling Green man charged with DUI after vehicle crashes into apartment building

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A Bowling Green man is accused of crashing into an apartment building while under the influence.

According to a uniform citation, around 11:13 p.m. Wednesday, Bowling Green police responded to the 300 block of McFadin Station Street for an injury collision.

Police say a caller stated a vehicle had hit an apartment building.

Authorities say upon arrival, they located a vehicle that had struck several mailboxes before hitting the building.

At the time of the crash, authorities say an apartment that was struck was occupied by one person.

Authorities say the driver was identified as 47-year-old Ernest Chambers of Bowling Green.

Police say a member of the fire department on scene stated the inside of the vehicle smelled of alcoholic beverages.

Authorities say Chambers stated he had been drinking earlier that day but denied being drunk.

Following Standard Field Sobriety Testing, police say an open container that smelled strongly of alcoholic beverages was found in the vehicle.

Chambers was taken into custody and transported to a local hospital for medical clearance and a blood draw.

He remains at the Warren County Regional Jail on charges of first-degree wanton endangerment, first-degree criminal mischief and operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol.
