UPDATE: Kentucky State Police investigating fatal collision on Veterans Memorial Highway

SCOTTSVILLE, Ky. – The Kentucky State Police has confirmed two people were killed after a wreck in Allen County Tuesday morning.
KSP says at around 5 a.m., it was requested by the Allen County Sheriff’s Office to investigate a fatal collision.
Troopers say they responded to the scene at the 5500 block of Veterans Memorial Highway.
Authorities say in a preliminary investigation, they found a 2017 Toyota Camry driven by Jose Alfaro, 53, of Bowling Green was traveling southbound on Veterans Memorial Highway. This is when Jose Alfaro’s vehicle struck a deer, officials say.
Jose Alfaro, along with his wife and passenger, Ana Alfaro, 49, of Bowling Green, exited the vehicle onto the travel lane of the road, according to authorities.
Authorities say this is when a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado operated by Javier Portillo, 26, of Bowling Green struck the Toyota Camry, along with Jose and Ana Alfaro.
Jose and Ana Alfaro were pronounced dead at the scene by the Allen County Coroner’s Office.
This investigation is ongoing.
