Kentucky State Police comments on successful first joint operation

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – In order to make a safer Warren County, all law enforcement within the county lines came together to curb bad driving practices.

Kentucky State Police headed a joint operation to tackle issues that every department has been seeing, organizing traffic details on the evening of Friday, July 19. The operation was a large success, according to KSP.

In a release from the KSP Post 3, they stated, “During this joint enforcement operation, no traffic stops for speeding violations were conducted on any vehicles driving less than 15 miles over the posted speed limit. The joint effort resulted in 70 speed citations, 12 seatbelt citations, five citations for failure to yield, five drug arrests, four citations for no insurance, four citations for failure to stop at a red light, three citations for suspended operator’s license, one citation for reckless driving, one citation for careless driving, one non-drug arrest, five courtesy notices and 15 other for a total of 126 citations.”

The details were set up in two locations that tend to see a lot of traffic.

KSP said, “Over the last three months from March 2024 to June 2024 on Scottsville Road traveling into and out of the City of Bowling Green, there were over 60 collisions and 180 traffic citations issued. During this same time period on Nashville Road south of Interstate 165, there were 47 collisions and over 120 citations issued.”
