Kentucky State Penitentiary caseworker facing sexual offense charges

EDDYVILLE, Ky. – A Kentucky State Penitentiary caseworker is facing sexual offense charges regarding an inmate.
According to authorities, at 3:40 p.m. Monday, the Kentucky State Police received a call from the Kentucky State Penitentiary stating an employee had been spotted “on security footage engaging in sexual intercourse with an inmate.”
Troopers say they responded to the scene, along with a detective, opening an investigation.
Authorities say the employee was identified as 26-year-old Alysta Mathis of Dawson Springs.
Mathis was arrested and charged with third-degree rape and third-degree sodomy.
She was transported to the Crittenden County Jail. The investigation remains ongoing.
