Kentucky Jailers Association meets in Bowling Green
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – If you notice, the Sloan Convention Center parking lot has been full for a few days. That’s because a large conference is going on, full of a crucial part of the justice system.
The Kentucky Jailers Association is in town, an organization of jailers around the state who bring along with them jail staff to receive beneficial training on weapons, laws and perhaps shop around for their institutions. Over 400 people were in attendance this week from various counties.
The goal of the conference is to train everyone statewide on the same laws and practices to combat issues that may arise in jail and how to best handle the every day responsibilities that may vary due to things like illness, sexual identification, contraband and more.
Stephen Harmon, who serves as the Warren County Regional Jail’s jailer, said it’s always a pleasure to have the association come to Bowling Green and being able to connect and discuss various issues that go on across the state.
