Kentucky high school students return World War II dog tag

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WLEX) – Two high school students helping with community cleanup in Woodford County ended up doing more good than they ever intended.
The juniors recently helped clean up debris and trash from the area near where a World War II veteran once lived.
But what seemed like trash is truly a treasure – a World War II dog tag engraved with the name Fred Jackson.
The discovery at in the Huntertown neighborhood of Woodford County Tuesday at the Huntertown Community Interpretive Park would make its way back to where it belongs.
Fred Jackson’s son, Ron Jackson, says he loves his father and how he taught them to be men and have work ethics.
Someone even said it’s like a message from Fred Jackson about hard work and those very work ethics.
You don’t know what you’ll find out in the open.
It could even bring someone just a little bit of closure in Woodford County.
