Kentucky Downs hosts 7 days of races

FRANKLIN, Ky. – This September Kentucky downs is open and holding a 7 day series of races, right in Franklin, Kentucky.

This September is also the second anniversary of the Mint Gaming Hall here in the bluegrass, so this weekend has been full of excitement for both entities.

It’s tradition at the track to have a country music icon make an appearance – also to sign guitars as trophies for winning horse owners, so this year, News 40 got a chance to see music star Trace Adkins, who was up from Nashville enjoying the weekend with two of his daughters. Adkins is a longtime fan of horse racing himself and said he wanted to share his love of the sport with his children as his father did him.

Kentucky Downs still has four days of racing left, and they offer free general admission. If you’re looking for something fun to do and didn’t get out this Labor Day weekend, check out their website at themintgaming.com
