Kentucky Aluminum Processors breaks ground in Russellville West Industrial Park
RUSSELLVILLE, Ky. – It’s the first industry in the Russellville West Industrial Park and sure to bring more in the coming years.
Kentucky Aluminum Processors, or KAP, is a joint venture by the Tennessee Aluminum Processors and co-owner of Logan Aluminum, Tri-Arrows Aluminum. The venture is to create a facility to recycle industrial and commercial aluminum to pour back into Logan Aluminum, thus making Logan County and Russellville a little greener.
Gov. Andy Beshear made an appearance for the groundbreaking, telling attendees that Kentucky is a leader in the metals industry and that the growth over the past four years that the state has seen is overwhelming.
Beshear said, “It feels good to be a leader” and this investment is a great step for both the environment and the local economy.
News 40 also spoke to Russellville mayor Mark Stratton, who said the new addition to the city is a blessing. Stratton said that over a year ago, a big employer shut down, which resulted in a loss of 200 jobs.
