‘Kangaroo Kids’ premiere sees huge turnout at Glasgow theater
GLASGOW, Ky. – Glasgow’s movie theater was packed full as Sunnstream held a Kentucky premiere for their first movie, “Kangaroo Kids,” this past weekend.
The movie was filmed in various areas of south central Kentucky, such as Glasgow, Ky., Park City, Ky. and Cave City, Ky.
The community came out to show their support. News 40 stopped by the premiere Sunday evening and spoke to those involved on the special day to see how it felt to see so many people show up to for the film.
Steve Hodges, an actor in the film, says, “It just filled my heart. I’m right with you. It just filled my heart. I mean, it was standing room only in, and it didn’t surprise me. The kids were walking out going, ‘this is the greatest movie we ever seen,’ you know, and that just makes you feel good.”
Sunnstream felt it was important to show up and do this for the community. The Kentucky Film Association and Southern Kentucky Film Commission pride themselves on having projects full of Kentucky talent.
City officials also spoke out about what this premiere means to the tourism in Park City.
“My gosh, it means a lot because, you know, it’s a small community, especially where we’re from. And we’re so happy to have the Kentucky Film Alliance down here working with tourism, and it’s just great,” city commissioner Donna Scavo says.
If you missed the premiere, ‘Kangaroo Kids’ is on Sunnstream.
News 40 spoke to the president of the company, who attended as well, and he said that family content is important to them, and they will definitely be returning to Kentucky for future projects.
