UPDATE: Identity of mother released after drowning in Hart Co.

HART COUNTY, Ky. – The identity of a mother has been released after a drowning in Hart County.

The mother and driver that died has been identified as Amy Philpot of Vine Grove. The juvenile victim’s identity has not been released at this time.

According to the Hart County Sheriff’s Office, the Bonnieville Fire Department and Hart County deputies were dispatched to the 1900 Campground Road in Bonnieville.

Authorities say a caller stated she was inside of a vehicle with water entering inside.

Bonnieville Fire Department personnel were first on scene and saw a vehicle partially submerged in high water.

Member of both agencies entered the water and attempted to remove both occupants from the vehicle.

Upon arriving at the vehicle, a 7-year-old girl was extracted. Due to the rising water and vehicle being partially submerged, authorities say the mother could not be removed from the vehicle.

EMTs on scene attempted to revive the juvenile, but efforts were unsuccessful.

The vehicle and Philpot were recovered from the flooded area on Sunday, Feb. 16.

Additional assisting agencies on scene include the Munfordville Fire Department, Hart County Ambulance Service, Hart County Coroner’s Office, Hart County Rescue Squad, Hart County Rescue Squad, Hart County Emergency Management, Munfordville Police Department, Horse Cave Police Department, Hart County Sheriff’s Office and the Kentucky State Police.
