Jury duty scam circulating in Hopkinsville

HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. – The Hopkinsville Police Department is warning of a phone scam you should be aware of.

The department says they have been receiving calls from concerned community members about a person claiming to be Sgt. Jones from HPD.

The caller informs individuals they have missed jury duty and need to pay a fine. The scammer then says if they do not pay the fine, a warrant for their arrest will be issued.

Officers want to stress they do not have a Sgt. Jones and do not call concerning missed jury duty.

According to police, this individual’s calls are coming in as “no caller ID.”

They encourage community members to just ignore phone calls from numbers you do not know and contact the police department with any questions or concerns.
