It’s not too late to plan your eclipse road trip
BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- The solar eclipse happening on April 8, 2024, is just two and a half weeks away. AAA says it is not too late to plan a road trip to see the totality. If you are looking for a place to view the eclipse in Kentucky, three major cities along the eclipse path are Paducah, Morganfield and Henderson.
There are many spring break travelers on the road, and eclipse viewers will add to that congestion. AAA suggests allowing yourself plenty of time to reach your destination and being mindful of pedestrians who may have their eyes on the sky.
Lynda Lambert, media spokesperson for AAA East Central, says, “Don’t look directly into the sun, you want to wear those eclipse glasses, but not while you’re driving. If you’re in an area where you want to stop and view the eclipse, AAA suggests that you get completely off the highway. Take an exit, and go to a parking lot, where you can get out of the vehicle and safely view the eclipse.”
While it is an incredible experience, remember, it is never safe to look at the eclipse without solar filters or protective glasses specifically made for safely viewing solar eclipses. This will be the last solar eclipse in the United States for 20 years, so you don’t want to miss it.
