Isaiah 1:17 House coming to Logan County
LOGAN COUNTY, Ky. – An exciting new non-profit venture that has been underway for the past two years is getting closer to breaking ground.
Isaiah House is a non-profit that seeks to change the way foster care begins, providing a furnished and staffed house where kids who will eventually be put in foster care, can spend their time while waiting for placement rather than sitting in a government office. There, the kids will have food, access to toiletries and of course sleep in beds rather than stay overnight in the offices like they unfortunately have been due to the state’s foster care crisis.
There are simply not enough eligible homes in the Commonwealth to take in the thousands of kids that need new homes. Lori Gafford, the location coordinator for Logan County, said that she along with other foster moms in the area are hoping to raise enough money soon to start building the house that will provide an easier transition for kids that have already gone through traumatic incidents prior to being removed from their home.
She and the rest of the team hope that the community will continue to support the endeavor with donations, both monetary and physical. The next organized donation event will be Friday, at the “Clash of The Cats” home game where Logan County Athletics will take up donations in the gym. Just a few days later on Monday, January 8, a “merch day” will take place to continue to raise money and show physical support for Isaiah House.
