IRS error exposes taxpayer information

(CNN) – Taxpayers, listen up. The IRS is acknowledging an error that ended up exposing some taxpayer information on the web.

The IRS admitted Friday that this error affected as many as 120,000 people who filed from 990-T, often used by non-profit organizations.  The IRS form is to report unrelated business income.

Agency officials say they have removed the files from public view on its website and will contact those affected directly.
