International Center of Kentucky selected for $71K grant to impact community
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The International Center of Kentucky is set benefit from the Lowe’s Hometown Community Impact Program, bringing them a $71,000 grant.
According to a release by the International Center of Kentucky, the funds will go toward restoring a playground on its main office grounds at 806 Kenton St. in Bowling Green.
This will benefit refugees and immigrants in Bowling Green, the release says, especially when school-aged children need to practice activities to prepare for school. The release states the space will also be accessible for adults and can offer a space for recreation and sports.
The Lowe’s Hometown program is a five-year $100 million project to revitalize community spaces across the nation, according to the release. So far, the release says the program has renovated 149 community center, food pantries, affordable housing facilities and shelters and refurbished 15 first responder and veteran or military family facilities.
In addition, the release states 54 community gardens, parks and playgrounds have been impacted.
This year, the International Center of Kentucky says the Lowe’s Hometown projects are reaching 44 states and Washington, D.C.
