Injury-plagued Tops fall on the road to Bulldogs

RUSTON, LA – While the WKU Lady Toppers played earlier Thursday, picking up a win over the Louisiana Tech Lady Techsters, the men’s team took to the court in the evening out in Ruston, Louisiana, facing off with the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs.

For the injury-plagued Toppers, the offensive struggles continued, as WKU shot 33% from the field, going just 6-28 from three-point range.

With key players sidelined due to injury, it’s been a ‘next man up’ mentality for head coach Hank Plona, but with two guys fouling out and four guys finishing with four fouls, the depth of the team was stretched as far as it could be.

Louisiana Tech’s bench outscored WKU 32-18, however, Tops starting guard Don McHenry led the game in scoring with 21 points, but in the end, the home Bulldogs had the upper hand, winning by a final score of 77-67.

The Hilltoppers will look to break their two-game losing skid on Saturday, when they face off with the Bearkats at Sam Houston.

Game time in Huntsville, TX is set for 2:30 pm local time.
