In-person unemployment appointments now available

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- Gov. Andy Beshear has announced that in person appointments for unemployment services are beginning again on April 15 and people can begin scheduling those appointments today. 

During the pandemic, meetings before were only virtual. Jon Sowards, President and CEO of the South Central Kentucky Workforce Development Board wants to stress that in-person meetings must be made by an appointment. 

The 30-minute in person appointments can be made between April 15 and April 30. They have about 52 slots per day during the two week period. to make an appointment you click here. 

Sowards said during the pandemic, the unemployment system has been overwhelmed. He said this is a step in the right direction to helping people get back on their feet. 

“The good news is the state really feels strongly about serving people in person. There’s something to be said for sitting across from somebody, listening to their story, and being able to serve them. I think the governor and the labor cabinet have recognized that and really have accelerated the timeline to get back to in person service.” 

Once slots are full, then on April 19th, people can start making appointments for May 3rd and after in a two week window.
