Werner agrees to Chelsea move, shuns Champions League chance
Germany striker Timo Werner has signed for Chelsea from Leipzig and will move next month in a deal that will see him shun the opportunity to play for the German club in the Champions League quarterfinals. The Premier League team had already agreed to a deal in principle with Werner after meeting his release clause of about $68 million. Chelsea says Werner still has to pass a medical examination but plans to join his new teammates in July despite being unable to play until next season.
