Kentucky Transportation Cabinet spending $14 million to widen Three Springs Road
WARREN COUNTY, Ky. – Work continues to get underway on Three Springs Road as the widening project pushes on.
From McCoy Place to Fieldstone Boulevard, crews will be working on setting utilities before the road will be widened to three lanes in that stretch of a mile and a half of road.
Sidewalks will also be built on both sides of the road, as well as a new bridge crossing over Interstate 165.
Wes Watt with District Three of the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says that with the continued expansion of Bowling Green and Warren County, that part of the county has been overdue for work.
“Road projects take a long time to make it into the highway plan. They take a while to get designed and all the right of way, and the construction done, but it mainly takes a long time to get the money set aside and available to do these projects. And so when you have tremendous growth, like we’ve had in Warren County in such a relatively short amount of time. We’re playing catch up with the roads, basically,” Watt said.
A roundabout will also be installed at the intersection with Smallhouse Road.
The over $14 million project is still working on setting utilities in place and is expected to continue until the end of 2027.
