Sofia Kenin says she no longer will be coached by her father. The 2020 Australian Open champion has announced just weeks before the French Open that she is “putting together a new technical team.” She wrote about the switch on Instagram on Friday. Kenin said it was not an easy decision. The 22-year-old American is No. 4 in the WTA rankings. But she has had a rough 2021 so far, with seven wins and seven losses, including a second-round exit at the Australian Open. The French Open starts May 30. Kenin was the runner-up in Paris last year.
